Who is UL?

Underwriters Laoratories Inc. (UL) is an independent, not-for-profit product safety testing and certification organization. UL has tested products for public safety for over a century. Each year more than 17 billion UL Marks are applied to products worldwide.

 

What is UL 508A?

UL 508A is the UL Standard for Safety of the construction of Industrial Control Panels. This includes proper component selection, wiring methods, and calculation of short circuit current ratings (SCCR).

 

What are the benefits of an UL Listed Panel?

The UL Listing Mark on an industrial control panel provides evidence of third party certification to the municipal inspection authority and to the purchaser of the panel. It shows that the panel complies with an acceptable safety standard. The Listing Mark may be applied to a wide variety of designs — ranging from custom built to standardized designs with only minor variations.
